Two of our boys received very special awards last night at our AWANA Club. For those not familiar with the program, AWANA is a nationwide church youth group, designed to teach kids the Bible through memorization, lessons, and a fun game time. Austin is in a club called Truth and Training, which is for 3rd-6th graders. Luke and Vance are in Sparks, which is for Kindergarten-2nd Grade. Dave and I serve as leaders in this club each Wednesday night. Each month they give out Awards on each color team for each grade level, based on achievement, behavior, attititude, and attendance. So each month there are about 5 kids chosen for this award from each grade. It is called Clubber of the Month, and they receive a ribbon that they get to wear each week for the month. They also get to assist in the flag salutes and club song.
Well, it was a successful night for the DeShong family, as both Luke and Vance were selected by their leaders to receive the award! It was so fun for us! Both boys were very surprised to receive the award, especially on the same night!
We are really proud of our little clubbers!!!!
